Art Therapy

Using art material as a therapeutic alternative is a mindful, exciting and calming experience all at once.  "Through integrative methods, art therapy engages the mind, body, and spirit in ways that are distinct from verbal articulation alone. Kinesthetic, sensory, perceptual, and symbolic opportunities invite alternative modes of receptive and expressive communication, which can circumvent the limitations of language. Visual and symbolic expression gives voice to experience and empowers individual, communal, and societal transformation."

Our Group Workshops

In fact, engaging in any type of creative art is therapeutique. Learning how to draw, sculpt, or sew is stimulating the brain in ways that make people experience a sense of confidence and empowerment. This is therapeutic. On the other end of the spectrum, engaging in art activities that promote self-reflection, self-awareness, and insight... is therapeutic to a deeper level. In addition, creating art in a group format rouse a flow of creative energies and emotional relief, encourage interpersonal learning and peer support, and experience a sense of belonging, connection, and human commonalities.

Our workshops are carefully designed and draw from those principles to reach different goals for different needs across the therapeutic spectrum, including personal development, self-care, interpersonal connection, anxiety and depression relief, or trauma healing among others.

Here is a short excerpt from "The Little Prince" by Antoine de St-Exupéry:

If like the little prince, you have been discouraged about your art somewhere along the way, you think you are not an artist or you are not creative, it is always time to get back in touch with your inner child, reconnect with your creativity, and experience the joy of learning, exploring and creating. Our accredited art therapists offer a safe and nurturing space, free of judgment, to enable self expression. Our workshops are intended to be a sanctuary for creativity and self-care.  Join us!

"I showed my masterpiece to the grown-ups, and asked them whether the drawing frightened them.

But they answered: "Frighten? Why should any one be frightened by a hat?"

My drawing was not a picture of a hat . It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the grown-ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing.

The grown-ups' response, this time, was to advise me to lay aside my drawings ... and devote myself instead to geography, history, arithmetic and grammar. That is why, at the age of six, I gave up what might have been a magnificent career as a painter. I had been disheartened by the failure ..."
